Kihei is located on Maui's southern shore, consisting of six miles of uninterrupted beaches. The six main beaches roll into one another, and the water is always ideal for swimming and other ocean activities.
When Kihei was first developed, many hotels, condos, and other lodging were built up across the street from the beach. This gives Kihei a unique quality of having the shore right outside your front door.
The town hasn't changed much since the 1970's, giving it a nostalgic charm and also some of the best deals in Hawaii.
Kihei is also home to the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale Sanctuary. The sanctuary is open to visitors looking to view these large mammals in their natural habitat. It is also home to many coral reefs and other creatures not found anywhere else in the world.
Kihei is filled with great places to eat. Sansei Seafood Restaurant and Sushi Bar is one of the best seafood places in town, featuring new wave Asian inspired cuisine that makes it one of "America's Best Sushi bars". For some oceanfront views as good as your food, check out the Five Palms Beach Grill, which serves up the best in season cuisine inspired by Island favorites.
Kihei is truly a unique vacation spot with a friendly atmosphere.
